This thesis -which we try to introduce Selami Efendi, who lived between the late 18th century and the beginning of 19th century, and his Divan beside his sufi and even poetic feature- includes the poet's life, his literary personality and his Divan with its transcription. Our study has two chapters. In the first chapter we studied Selami Efendi's life and his works first and then we studied his literary personality by the help of the sources we reached and the Divan. Sufic view which he tells in "divan" poetry tradition in the characteristic of the poems are tried to be established and explained with examples. In the second chapter Divan's transcriptioncd text is placed. Selami's Divan was prepared diffrently than the "muretteb divan"s. Nearly all of his poems have relioginic theme. After "munacaat", "na't", and "muhammes" in which he mentionedhis prayer to Allah, praise to the Prophet Muhammed and love and devotion to Hz. Ali and Twelve Imam, there is the "murabbaal" chapter ibn which there are "muhammcs"ses for Hz.Cami, Hz. Sezai, Dervish Hayreti Dede, Şemsi-i Sivasi, Dervish Safdcr, Şakir Ahmed Pasha and a "nazire" for Hace Neş'et in Nedimane style. Then "tarih"s written for building, fountain, consruction of mosgues, pavillions, accession to the throne ol Sultan's son, next the "gazeP's comes. The great deals of the gazels written in Persian are striking. The poems of the sufi manner and introducing and make the others love the "Nakşibendiye" way as being himself sheikh of it. Besides Nakshibendi Dervish sect hr mentions about the Mevlevi and the Bektashi Dervish sect. Moreover there are signs of Hurufi sect because he see cabalistic meaning in the letters of the Kur'an. After the "mukattaat" chapter in which again prayer to Allah and praise to the Prophet Muhammed there are "rubar's. There is also the introduce of the genealogy of the Nakshibendi Dervish sect and at the end of this chapter there is a "muamma" for the name Muhammed. In "ebyat" chapter there are persian verses. Finally there is a gazel which he wrote for the purpose of suggestion to the "salik"s in his personality which he named "Be-nâm-ı Nazım in Naçar" and after two "tarih" for the arrangement of Divan, it ends whit the persian prose chapter. After the transcriptioncd text, a dictionary, which contains rarely known words and a index in which there are person names, are prepared. VIIWc are in the opinion that this thesis we prepared is in the peculiarity to enlighten the ater studies on the poet. Divan waits to be appreciated in the frame of Sufi Literature in order o attract attention to Selami Efendi, a suft poet, that he is merited by the experts and the community.
