Abstract (EN)

Kyrgyzystan since its independence in 1991 has seen many changes. Due to democratic religion-state religions and tolerance towards different faiths and beliefs, comparing to neighboring countries, Kyrgyz nation has faced an intensive religious propaganda. This study which titled The Emergance of Salafism and its Influence in Kyrgyzistan aims to hold the process of entry of Salafism in Kyrgyzstan. For this reason, firstly, the process of İslamization of Central Asian societies in general and Kyrgyzstan in particular has been studied. After wards, Salafism, one of the religious movements in Kyrgyzstan after independence, was held and the activities and teachings of Salafis and their effects on the people were examined. The study consists of an introduction and three main chapters. In the introduction part, the subject, purpose, limits and sources of the study are explained briefly. In the first chapter of the study, the Islamization of the Kyrgyz and religious policy of the Soviet period were discussed. In the second chapter of the study, general information about Salafism is given and the third chapter analysis of Salafism's entry and activities in Kyrgyzstan. In this context, the activities of Salafis in the fields of education, social assistance and media were examined.
