Abstract (EN)
Objective: Evaluation of the effects of systemically administered selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) and serotonin noradrenaline reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) on bone healing. Method: 24 male Wistar rats participated in 3 groups each containing rats. Group 1; SSRI application + calvarial defect; group 2: SNRI administration (5mg / kg / day, 2 weeks) + calvarial defect; group 3: Saline administration (5mg / kg / day, 2 weeks) + calvarial defect. After systemic administration of saline, SSRI and SNRI at the determined doses and times to the rats in the groups, 5 mm diameter critical-size defects were created in the calvarum of the rats. At the end of the 6th week, all subjects were sacrificed with intravenous high-dose sodium pentothal and bone healing in the defect areas was evaluated histomorphometrically and radiologically. Results: In the histomorphometric examination, it was determined that positive field measurements were not at different levels for group 1, group 2 and group 3. It was determined that the positive field measurements measured in the study groups were not different (p=0.27).In Micro CT measurement, it was determined that BV/TV measurements were not at different levels for group 1, group 2 and group 3. It was determined that the BV/TV measurements measured in the study groups were not different (p=0.55).In Micro CT measurement, it was determined that the measurements of BS/TS measurements were not at different levels for group 1, group 2 and group 3. It was determined that the BS/TS measurements measured in the study groups were not different (p=0.57). Conclusion: Although there are many studies in the literature on the effects of SSRI and SNRI group drugs on bone metabolism, the number of experimental studies is limited. In the light of these findings, it was concluded that the experimental protocol we applied on rats was a suitable model for investigating the effects of SSRI and SNRI group drugs on rat calvaria. It is thought that further studies with similar models will contribute to the literature. Keywords: SSRI, SNRI, rat, calvaria
