Şemsettin Günaltay's ethic approach

This thesis is written to examine the ethical understanding of Mehmet Şemsettin Günaltay, one of the important thinkers of the late Ottoman Empire. Born into the intellectual crisis of the Ottoman and Islamic world, Günaltay thought about the answers that the National and local could give to the West with his struggle and produced solutions from his perspective. In our study, the foundations of ethics in the East and the West have been discussed, and the change in the understanding of ethics over time has been addressed. In addition, the effects of ethics on religion, values, and society have been examined. Günaltay's religious, historical, individual, social, and understanding of the role of religion in society, the duties of the intellectual elites, and the state's understanding of education have been examined.
