Özet (EN)

It is one of the commonly accepted understandings of the current liberal arts that no culture is pure or authentic and that cultures, due to their nature, are more or less pervious and prone to continuous changes. Recently rather than the original remnants of cultures, the emphasis in this field is more on the fact that cultures emerge as a result of changes and transformations. One of the most attention drawing points of these changes and transformations within this interaction process is what cultures derive from each other and how they internalize and exhibit their derivations with in the process of building and creation. Syncretism which can most plainly be described as the emergence of something new out of the convergence of two or more things, together with the increasing discussions of globalization is one of the most common concepts of liberal arts today illuminating the studies focused on change and transformation. The purpose of this study is to consider, within the context of syncretism, the perspective the modern day local genres obtained through their interaction with popular genres of music. The first part of the study is focused on the term senceticism and its basic dynamics. As a conceptual model, the study dwells on reasons for prefering sencretism to others. In the second part of the study the historical background of the phenomenon of sencretic Black Sea Rock and and its constituents are dealt with. The third and the last part of the study, as an exact and popular example, the phenomenon of `Black Sea Region Rock? which has emerged through the combined use of Black Sea local music and rock music is examined. This phenomenon is embodied with the example of Band Marsis which has located its way of musical expression in this phenomenon. As in every field of culture, music practices are constantly open to change and transformation. As a result, today the dynamics used at the stage of forming the new syncretic practices through using various music cultures together are different from the spontaneous formations of the past. They are fictionalized and presented around various strategies. İngilizce Anahtar Kelimeler: 1- Syncretism 2- Hybridity 3- BlackSea Rock 4- Popular Music 5- Cultural Studies
