The comparative analyzing of the applying of systematic and local simvastatin in the bone defects in a critical size which are applied synthetic and allogen greft materials

SUMMARY Statine, drugs are used for reducing level of cholesterols in serum. Research showed that statin type drugs which have lipophilic structure has more effect to the bone, has anti-inflammatoory effect, reduces formation of osteoclast cells,increase of bone formation. We aimed to compare the effect of systematic and local use of simvastatin in bone critic defact with synthetic and allogeneic graft material. In this study, 50 Sprague Dawley male rats has been used and lab rats were divided in 5 groups with n=10. Control group rats which had calvarial defect were sutured whitout any procedure, in another 2 groups rats with calvarial defect were covered with synthetic or allogeneic graft, combination with simvastatin drug. Lab rats were sacrificed after 30 days for histological and immunochemical analysis. Research showed, bone formation beter in group with local simvastatin application than in group with systematic simvastatin application and bone formation in local simvastatin application with combined synthetic graft showed the best result. Simvastatin in optimum dosage, right application technic and ideal receiver will help us in process of bone healing, but further investigation are required.
