Abstract (EN)

Am: In this study, we evaluated the effect of septorhinoplasty on psychopathology and quality of life. Material and Method: Seventy patients who underwent septorhinoplasty by the same surgeon were evaluated prospectively. After the patients were selected; socio-demographic form prepared by the investigator, SCID-1, SF-36, BDI, BAI, NOSE, ROE was applied to the patients. SCID-1 was performed preoperatively by our hospital psychiatry clinic. Patients without any psychiatric disorder were included in the study. Other scales were applied preoperatively and postoperatively. Results: Patients included in the study, 58.6% were female, 41.6% were malr, 51.4% were working, 48.6% were not working, 24.3% were married and 75.7% were single. According to educational level, 2.9% were graduated primary school, 12.9% were graduated middle school, 25.7% were graduated high school, 58.6% from university or university graduates. 12.9% of the patients had previously septoplasty. Of the patients included in the study, 54.3% were in the age range of 18-25, and 45.7% were in the age range of 26 and over. The mean age of the patients was 26,14 ± 6,8. There was a significant difference, NOSE, ROE, BAI, physical function, physical role functioning, social role functioning and general health perceptions, between preoperative and postoperative mean values of the patients included in the study (p<0,05). There was no significant difference between preoperative and postoperative mean values of the patients' emotional role functioning, energy-vitality-activity, mental health and pain (p>0,05). Conclusion: The patients with septorhinoplasty had a significant improvement in the disease specific and general quality of life scales. There was a significant improvement in post-operative anxiety levels in the general group, while the decrease in depression level was not statistically significant. There is an opposite correlation between preoperative depression level and postoperative satisfaction. Female gender, non-working, 26 years old and over, single patients, patients without previously septoplasty, university or university graduates have positive effects on the overall quality of life subscales. There is a significant decrease of post-operative anxiety levels in patients with male gender, no working and has not had septoplasty. Therefore, all of these conditions should be taken into consideration when selecting patients. Studies on the effects of septorhinoplasty on the quality of life should be increased in this direction since there is no scale on which there is full consensus. Key Words: Anxiety, depression, quality of life, septorhinoplasty,
