Abstract (EN)

Aim: Cerebrovascular diseases (CVD) continue to be a significant public health problem due to the increasing number of deaths worldwide. Biochemical markers that can be used in the diagnosis of CDV can play an important role in early diagnosis and treatment by facilitating clinical decisions. This study aimed to investigate the relationship of ASP, a new glucogenic adipokine, with LVH and its potential use as a biomarker in the diagnosis of CVD. Materials and Methods: A total of 97 participants, including 67 CVD patients diagnosed with ischemic CVD (N:58) and hemorrhagic CVD (N:9) according to imaging methods, and 30 healthy controls, were included in this study. Asprosin levels in serum samples obtained from blood samples taken from individuals were measured using an ELISA kit. At the same time, CRP, HDL-C, LDL-C, TG and glucose measurements were recorded in serum samples. Results: Serum asprosin levels in the CVD group were observed to be significantly lower than the healthy control group (p<0.05). When the Hemorrhagic and Ischemic CVD groups were compared, no difference was observed in serum asprosin levels between the two groups (p<0.05). In the ROC curve analysis performed for serum asprosin, the AUC value was found to be 0.703 (p:0.001). Conclusion: Low serum asprosin levels in CVD patients suggest that it may play a role in the pathogenesis of the disease. In addition, it can be said that low asprosin levels in CVD patients are a candidate biomarker that can be used in diagnosis.
