Özet (EN)

Revolutionary developments in information and communication technologies since 80's has supported international flow of capital to more profitable markets. Risk taking trend of international banks intensified and it caused development of new financial instruments. Sets of regulations are endorsed by developed nations which aims a stabilized financial sector. The most important one of the regulations is the Basel rules which are endorsed in 1988. The main purpose of these rules is to remove differences in applications of international banks and developing a standardized international environment. Whilst markets have been developed the standards called as Basel-I has become insufficient and some new concept sare introduced for example calculation of operational risk and market risk along with credit risk. Basel-I rules are changed in time and revised as Basel-III rules now. This thesis studies effects of Basel III on Turkey and other countries and it includes an econometric application which uses capital adequacy ratios in 31 different countries. Additionally we have concluded that Basel- III rules will not have a negative effect on Turkish Banking Sector given the main capital structure of Turkish banking sector. Key Words : Basel III Criteria, Cluster Analysıs
