Özet (EN)

The purpose of this study is to examine Sermin Yasar's books in the context of sensitivity education. Sensitivity is the individual's ability to remain unresponsive to events and situations outside of their own lives and to create a conscious awareness. When societies are frequently exposed to negative events, they become indifferent to what is happening and become insensitive to it. This situation can often negatively affect children, who are the future of society. In order to society and individuals to build healthy foundations and develop, they need to say stop to the negativities and injustices experienced; they need to protect themselves, their environment, national and universal values. Being sensitive to people, animals, nature, family, labor, health, social norms, peace, justice and many other values is one of our human duties. In order to raise children in this direction, it is necessary to be a role model for them. Undoubtedly, one of these sources is children's literature. Quality children's books, which appeal to children with many features such as their subject and character cast, and enable them to feel our values and create sensitivity in them, are of great importance in raising children. With this perspective, 19 books written by Sermin Yasar for children were examined in 51 sensitivity sub-categories, also taking into account the sensitivity categories determined in previous studies. In the study, document review which is a qualitative research method was used, and content analysis method was used in data analysis. As a result of the research, it was determined that out of the 19 books written by Sermin Yasar individually for children; in books suitable for preschoolers, the most sensitivity expression was in Cebimdeki Mandalina Ağaçları, and the least was in Bizimki. In books suitable for school ages, the book with the most sensitivity type detected was Para Ağacı, the book with the most sensitivity expression was Lo, and the books with the least sensitivity expressions were Pekicik and Dahacık. While the most frequently detected sensitivity in preschool ages was sensitivity to imagination and fantasy, it was sensitivity to children and childhood during the school age. The most frequently detected sensitivity categories in total in 19 books were determined as sensitivity to children and childhood, respectively; sensitivity to family members and sensitivity to human emotions, human relations and expressions of courtesy; sensitivity to school and education; On the other hand, sensitivity to death and sensitivity to disabled individuals were determined to be the least detected sensitivity categories. All of the sensitivity categories investigated were included in the 19 books examined, albeit to a small extent. As a result of the research, it is thought that the books written by Sermin Yasar for children will support different sensitivity areas especially in child readers, will be effective in gaining sensitivity in children and will contribute to adult readers, especially in understanding children and being sensitive towards children.
