Özet (EN)
In this study, our main objective is to find variations in the levels of expressions shown in benign, borderline and malign serous ovarian tumors by determining genetic expression levels of miRNA-16, miRNA-21 and miRNA-92a considered as related to serous ovarian borderline tumors that are the most seen form of ovarian tumors in sampled tissues obtained from paraffin fixed with formalin and also to assess if they matter in prognostication or not. In the study, paraffin blocs of patients operated in Gaziantep University, Faculty of Medicine between 01.01.2010 – 01.01.2017 and pathologically reportred as Borderline, Benign and Malign Serous Ovarian Tumors have been used. With qRT-PCR method, miRNA-16, miRNA-21 and miRNA-92a expression levels are assessed in patient groups diagnosed 30 with Borderline, 29 with Benign and 30 with Malign Serous Ovarian Tumors. It is considered statistically significant that p-value is lower than 0,05. When levels of miRNA-16 expression are compared, significantly increased expression levels in Borderline group rather than Benign group and in Malign group rather than Benign group have been found (p=0,002, p=0,017, respectively). As for miRNA-21, with Malign group significant variation has been found neither with Borderline nor with benign groups (p=0,310, p=0,098, respectively). As for miRNA-21 in Borderline group significant increase of expression has been seen compared to Benign group (p=0,008). When Borderline and Benign groups are compared for miRNA-92a, levels of expression haven't been found any significant variation (p=0,431). However, miRNA-92a expression levels in Malign group have been found significantly increased compared to both Borderline and Benign group (p=0,001, p=0,001, respectively). Since there is no other study in English scientific literature review comparing miRNA expression related with Borderline Serous Ovarian Tumors, this study is quite considerable. miRNA-16, miRNA-21 and miRNA-92a can be biomarkers to be used as diagnostic and prognostic for serous ovarian tumors.
