Creating of raw wood material harvesting planning in certificated forest management districts (Daday Forest Management District sample)

This thesis titled "Creating of Raw Wood Material Harvesting Planning in Certificated Forest Management Districts (Daday Forest Management District Sample)" was carried out in Kastamonu Regional Directorate of Forestry, Daday Forest Management District in the years from 2013 to 2015. By this study, it is aimed to ensure deciding on the right way for the practitioners and decision-makers who have to think versatile during harvesting activities, to provide optimal benefit from forests both temporally and spatially, and also according to the continuously changing market demand by year, to support harvesting planning in forestry with the help of a dynamic program while deciding, so as to cause minimum damage to the forest and environment. Harvesting planning was realized for the forest sub-districts within Daday Forest Management District. User-friendly interfaced and a dynamic structured forest harvesting planning program, named Uret-KEN has been developed with object-based Delphi programming software, using data obtained in GIS as base data. With this program, in foreseen harvesting areas of forest management plans, forest harvesting activities were classified in three degrees by considering the factors; slope, aspect, elevation, skidding distance, distance to the depot, site class, age classes, crown closure and allowable cut volume. At the same time, the program warnes and takes attention for the sensitive featured areas for harvesting (buffer zone, cultural heritage, wildlife habitat and so on). Thus, the temporal and spatial distribution of harvesting areas will be provided in accordance with the year.
