The examination of the placement exam in terms of word presence

This research has been conducted to evaluate the presence of the words in the Placement Exam and in this respect to determine if there is a certain systematic in it. There are very few studies in this subject, which increases the importance of our research. This research contains the words in all the questions and the choices in the subjects of ?Science and Technology?, ?Mathematics?, ?Social Sciences?, ?Turkish? except ?Foreign Language? in the PE applied to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students by the Ministry of Education; and this study has been determined just by taking into account the word frequency used in 2009 Placement Exam. The data were obtained with the result of a literature review and by studying the word presence of all the questions in 2009 PE with a textual analysis. In the stage of collecting data, all the elements belonging to the word presence in the question texts were written on the registration forms by classifying in itself. The data obtained after examining all the questions were written according to the alphabetic order by adhering to the previous classification. Document review of the qualitative research techniques and content analysis techniques were used. Statistical techniques used for describing the collected data are the frequency (F) and the percentage ( %). These data have been interpreted in the sections ?Results and Discussion? too.
