Abstract (EN)
Western Anatolia has been an immensely cultural region since the Ancient Times. Eastern Roman Empire which is called Byzantine Empire afterwards, has been found its cultural basis after fall of the Western Roman Empire and within time became more oriental. In Medieval Period after experienced great changes, this territory became homeland for Muslim Turks who gave this place its final shape.After the Battle of Manzikert, Western Anatolian's ethnicity changed. Greeks left their presence to Muslim Turks; also during the Medieval Time, the territory's belief system changed from paganistic beliefs to Christendom and later on, to the Islam. During this period, peoples of this territory has left the cultural traces of each three belief systems to the Western Anatolia.Along the whole history, the Anatolian Peninsula been a very important place and a target for many traveller. Some of this travellers have lived at the Medieval Period which is this research's object and recorded information about the Western Anatolia where they come to stop by and some of them have visited this place more after and while representing the territory, they gave information about it's past. In this research, travelogues of travelers' who provide knowledge about Medieval Period of Western Anatolia has been crosschecked with up-to-date information.
