In our study named "Socio-Cultural Life in The Period of Seljuks and Principalities According to Travelbooks (XIII.-XIV. Century)", it is aimed to indicate social and cultural life of Anatolia in the light of travelbooks by travellers whom came to Anatolia in 13th and 14th centuries or whom stopped by Anatolia while going to different regions. Many travellers visited various geographic regions during the Middle Ages. Anatolia attracted attention of travellers and anventurers as a geographical location which witnessed the foundation of many civilizations. Travellers in these visits wrote or reported their impressions by observing and describing. In this way, travel articles called "travelbooks" came on the scene. Travelbooks indude valuable information about political, religious, cultural ve economic history of countries in addittion to their literary aspects. In the introduction part of our thesis, the purpose and procedure of our study is explained as well as the presentation and evaluation of the sources in bibliography is stated. In the first chapter, it is defined what traveller, travelling and travelbook means. Next, it is informed about types of travelling by separating them in sections in terms of their purposes. Moreover, the history of travelling from the time the first human being existed till the 14th century on which our study focuses in explained. In the second chapter, it is given information about the lives of travellers. In the third chapter, the main part of our study, it is referred to daily life, religious life, scientifıc life, nutrition and cuisine, ahi community and dervish convent of Anatolia on the basis of travelbooks. In the last chapter, it is pointed out the relationship between travellers and sultans and sufis. Our study is ended up with the conclusion part in which general evaluation of the topic is made.
