Abstract (EN)

The symbol name of the independence and wars movement launched by the North Caucasian Muslims against the Russians is Sheikh Şamil, also known as "Caucasian Eagle". In this study, the life of Sheikh Şamil and his team after coming to Istanbul, were tried to be revealed in the light of the Ottoman press and archive documents. For this reason, it is tried to contribute to the study field by including newspapers and archieve files in the Ottoman press of the period. In the study, news about Sheikh Şamil's Istanbul life from various newspapers of the period were received. Nearly 277 documents, as a result of the scanning on the Ottoman archieve files about the subject, were reached. As a result of these obtained datas, it was tried to reveal what he did between 1869-1871, what activites he did, who he met, where he stayed and where his team lived convering the period of the Sheikh Şamil and his team stayed in Istanbul.
