Abstract (EN)

In this research the caryological investigation of Cyprinus carpio Linnaeus, 1758, Capoeta damascina (Valenciennes, 1842), Luciobarbus pectoralis (Heckel, 1843), Pseudophoxinus zekayi Bogutskaya, Küçük & Atalay, 2006, Squalius seyhanensis Turan, Kottelat & Doğan, 2013 and Alburnus adanensis Battalgazi, 1944 which of they belonging to Cyprinidae family and living in Seyhan and Ceyhan Rivers System were performed. Air drying technique was carried out for obtaining of chromosomes. C-banding technique was used for determining constitutive heterochromatin regions and silver staining was used for determining nucleolus organizer regions (NORs). Karyotypic formulations are; 2n=100, 15 pairs of metacentric (m), 9 pairs of submetacentric (sm), 26 pairs of subtelo-acrocentric (st-a) chromomosomes and fundamental arm number (NF)=148 for C. carpio; 2n=150, 23 pairs of m, 21 pairs of sm, 31 pairs of st-a and NF=238 for C. damascina; 2n=100, 10 pairs of m, 21 pairs of sm, 19 pairs of st-a and NF=162 for L. pectoralis; 2n=50, 8 pairs of m, 13 pairs of sm, 4 pairs of st-a and NF=92 for P. zekayi; 2n=50, 8 pairs of m, 14 pairs of sm, 3 pairs of st-a and NF=94 for S. seyhanensis; 2n=50, 6 pairs of m, 14 pairs of sm, 5 pairs of st-a and NF=90 for A. adanensis. Heteromorphic sex chromosomes were not identified. Constitutive heterochromatin regions were determined on the centromeres of several chromosomes. NORs were observed on the telomeres of the short arms of 1 pair of sm chromosome in L. pectoralis, P. zekayi, S. seyhanensis and A. adanensis; on the telomeres of the short arms of 1 pair of m chromosome in C. carpio and 3 pairs of chromosomes in C. damascina. NOR polymorphism of number were determined in P. zekayi.
