Seyyed Hossein Nasr and his views on sirah according to his work "Muhammed: Man of God

Numerous works have been written to identify and convey the life, words and behavior of the Prophet Muhammad whose important position is in understanding and living the religion. The literature on this subject has gradually developed and reached a tremendous level with the emergence of new genres other than sirah. Intellectual and scientific changes that took place in the West with the 19th century also affected the Islamic world. With the influence of modern historical assumptions and a number of paradigms, the history books and contents of the classical period have been subjected to harsh criticism. In the modern period, the political, military and human aspects of the prophet began to be brought to the fore. On the other hand, the narratives that describe the prophethood, the spiritual aspects of the revelation and the reflections of divine protection and surveillance on his life could not be found in the modern works. Seyyed Hossein Nasr think that there are already numerous historical studies of the Prophet in European languages devoted to him as statesman, military commander and human although works which bring out the spiritual significance of the Blessed Prophet and the inner meaning of the various episodes of his life are rare. Nasr wants to explain certain elements of this exemplary life which have been cast into doubt by the modernized, skeptical mind. He aims to address primarily to the young Muslim reader who has no access to the traditional sources and is yet in need of a traditional and at the same time contemporary presentation of the life of the Blessed Prophet.
