SUMMARYThe comparisons of the durations of keeping the left side position subsequent to the spinal anesthesia applied on the left side position in c-sectionsIt is known that unlike non-obstetric patients, isobaric LA solutions applied subarachnoidally on the obstetric patients causes a high anesthesia level and in relation to that a very high incidence of hypotension is observed.Term pregnants between ages 18-40 with ASA I-II, without any nöroaksial block contraindications who are undergoing elective c-section were included in the study. Cases were randomly divided into three groups of 30 individuals each according to the duration of how long they were kept on the side position: the group that was kept on the left position for 5 minutes (5 min group), the group that was kept on the left position for 10 minutes (10 min group), the group that was kept on the left position for 15 minutes (15 min group). Through the L2-3 or L3-4 interspinal space, 2.0 mL of %0.5 isobaric Levobupivacain was injected in 10 seconds. The surgeries were initiated 25 minutes after the spinal anesthesia was applied.We found that the hypotension incidence in the 5 min group was significantly higher compared to the 10 min and 15 min groups however there wasn?t any difference between the 10 min and 15 min groups. We observed that the sensorial block level decreased inversely as the duration of the side position prolonged. There wasn?t any significant difference observed in terms of the side effect incidence, intraoperative analgesia need and the intraoperative muscle relaxation.In conclusion, keeping the pregnant patients on the left lateral position for 10 minutes subsequent to the spinal anesthesia by isobaric agent appears to be appropriate. This duration length provides adequate anesthesia quality and decreases the hypotension incidence besides decreasing the side effect incidence.Key Words: C-section, İsobaric, Levobupivacain, Hypotension, Patient?s position.
