Özet (EN)

Siderite an important iron ore is mainly used as raw material for steel production. The chemical composition of the iron ore is very important for the quality of the steel produced. Therefore, the chemical composition must be known. When high temperature is applied to siderite ore as known iron carbonate (FeCO3), the ratio of the various elements mainly iron and manganese in the structure changes. In this study, applying different temperatures varies between 600⁰C - 1000⁰C at different time period to Hekimhan-Deveci siderite ore, it is tried to determine amount of various elements, mainly iron with using ICP-MS, AAS, XRF and SEM/EDS methods. According to the data obtained from the study results, the highest iron content is obtained with processing for 2 hours at 800 ⁰C by SEM/EDS (54.40%). When examining the results obtaining from ICP-MS method, iron content of specimen processed for 1 hour at 600 ⁰C is raised up to 50% levels. With increasing temperature, the iron quantity is raised to 56% levels while manganese quantity reaches to by 6% level. In this method, the ratios of other elements except iron and manganese elements are below 1%. In the analysis conducted with AAS, only the ratios of iron and manganese the highest elements in specimen are determined. The amount of the highest Fe (50,28%) and Mn (5,71%) contents are determined at specimens processed for 2 hours at 800 ⁰C . In the siderite analysis conducted with XRF device, Fe content is determined as % 37,5. As a result, all three methods compared, the iron content in the ore is increased from the levels of 38-40 % to 54-56 % by applying heat treatment for 2 hours at 800 ⁰C, and the ore is enriched. In addition, the ratio of manganese, important for the iron and steel sector is reached to 3.5% average level from 6%. Keywords: Iron, Siderite, Trace elements, SEM/EDS, ICP-MS, AAS, XRF.
