Sufıstıc concepts in the works of Suhrawardi's Awarifu'l-Ma'arif

The work of "Awarifu'l-ma'arif'" written by Suhrawardi, which has an important place in the history of Sufism, is considered as one of the important sources of Sufism. Suhrawardi is a person who has devoted himself to science throughout his life. He traveled to many places to get education and during this time he took lessons from many scholars and Sufis. Due to the education he has received, he has written works on fiqh, hadith, commentary, logic and theology besides sufism. Sufistic concepts in Suhrawardi's "Awarifu'l-ma'arif'" were examined in detail and tried to be explained in a simple and understandable manner. This study consists of introduction, conclusion and three parts. In the introduction part, information about the subject, aim, method and evaluation of resources of the study is given. In the first part, the life, birth and upbringing of the author, his education and his teachers, his students, his disciples, the scholars and sufis during his period, his death and the works he wrote are discussed. In the second chapter, sofistic concepts, which are included in the work called "Awarifu'l-ma'arif'", are discussed as concepts related to sufism, including sufi life, sect, spiritual authorities, "seyr u suluk", self-sonsciousness, worship and morality. This section is divided into two groups: The concepts related to worship and morality and the concepts related to "seyr u suluk". The lexical and terminological meanings of the concepts are explained and information about the concepts is given. The meanings and interpretations that Suhrawardi has placed on these concepts have been discussed and tried to be explained by comparing them with the interpretations of other Sufi writers on these concepts. In the third chapter, they are treated as the concepts of realization "tahakkuk" covering the subjects such as knowledge and states. These concepts have been dealt with in two groups as concepts related to heart and conscience and concepts related to wisdom "marifet" and knowledge. Likewise, the lexical and terminological meaning of these concepts were mentioned, explanations were made about the concepts, evaluations and explanations were made by emphasizing sofistic concepts in the works of Suhrawardi and other Sufist writers. In the conclusion part, brief information is given about Suhrawardi and a general evaluation was made about the studies made about him and this essay.
