Abstract (EN)
Marine transportation is a sector in which concepts of safety, security and environment are at the forefront. The training requirements of this industry, which is also a global sector, are regulated and updated by many national and international institutions and organizations. In addition to bringing new guidelines after the events, these units integrate new application techniques with the developments in technology into maritime education. The inclusion of new application models in maritime education naturally brings with it the need for supportive or new assessment and evaluation methods to traditional and alternative measurement and evaluation techniques. In this study, it is aimed to provide supporting equipment for measurement and evaluation techniques used in simulators in maritime training by using eye tracking and electroencephalography (EEG) devices. The experiments were carried out eye tracking and EEG devices were used in the Bridge Simulator with 24 participants from the Department of Marine Transportation Engineering. In addition, an eye tracking device was used in the Ship Engine Room Simulator with 12 participants, who are students of the Department of Marine Engineering. As a conclusion, it was determined that eye tracking and EEG devices in simulators, especially with their live tracking feature, will support trainers in evaluation objectivity, data interpretation and looking at events from the perspective of the participant.
