The effect of sustainability policies on organizational performance in civil aviation enterprises: The case of TAV Airport

Today, consumers, government, employees, local people and investors have become increasingly demanding that the corporate behavior of businesses be audited. In the evaluation of organizational performance, in addition to financial efficiency indicators, the inclusion of the sustainability indicators of the enterprises, the presentation of social and environmental investments with various reports, the companies will receive the support of the stakeholder group, so the company risk decreases and it appears as an increase in the company value in the long term. In this study, the financial performance of TAV Havalimanları Holding A.Ş., the only airport operator listed on the BIST Sustainability Index, between 2013-2019 and the data obtained from the sustainability reports published between 2013-2017, the sustainability performance, AHP and TOPSIS methods, which are the multi-criteria decision-making methods. It was analyzed using. The sustainability and financial performance values of the business from the best to the worst were determined and ranked according to these years. It has been investigated whether there is a positive-negative or neutral relationship between organizational-financial performance and sustainability performance. As a result, although there is no exact parallelism between these two performance values that change over the years, the possible cyclical reasons for this are discussed.
