Piety is one of the important research subjects of the psychology of religion and the sociology of religion. This study is designed to understand the impact of social phenomena and changes on the way in which religion is perceived and applied, and aimed to analyze the relationships between piety, education and civil society. The research consists of three main chapters and in the first chapter, the basic definitions of the subject are provided. In the second chapter, it is stated that besides the view of morality-oriented piety, there is another view of piety stemming from vanity and materialism, which defined as "Toxic Piety Syndrome". The causes, sings and results of this Toxic Piety Syndrome were examined. In the third chapter, the positive and negative effects of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) on the Toxic Piety Syndrome are determined.
