Özet (EN)

There have been great developments between the communication tools used centuries ago and the communication tools and methods used today. The concept of communication, which has a deep-rooted history, continues its development process, transforming from pictures drawn on cave walls to social media applications, along with technological developments. Political communication has always existed in human life through different methods, and increasingly digital living standards directly affect the developments in this field. In this sense, it gets its share from developing communication technologies in politics and media. Compared to conventional media, social media has become an indispensable part of daily communication processes for institutions and political actors due to the opportunities it offers. In the study conducted in this context; In the first and second chapters, the development process of politics and media is discussed in depth and presented in a chronological order. In the research part, which is the third phase of the study, Sultanbeyli District, which is among the top three districts with the highest young population rate in Istanbul, was preferred. Within the framework of the research, the focus group method was used to determine the political participation of young people on social media, and the participants' interest levels in the political agenda and their preferred media channels were analyzed. The findings of the focus group interviews held with two separate groups of 10 people were presented with tables and graphs, and then comments and inferences were made.
