Comparison of attitudes of physical education teachers and school teachers toward teaching profession

The purpose of this study was to compare attitudes of physical education teachers and school teachers toward teaching profession. The population of this study was 228 physical education teacher in 2013-2014 academic year from the city of Kocaeli. The sample of this study was 173 physical education teachers which included 37 of then were originaly school teacher and 36 of then were graduates from physical education teaching departmeny. Physical education profession attitudes scale developed by Ünlü in 2011 used to collect data. Lowest score abstained from this scale is 25, and the highest score is 125. In the analysis of data t-test was used when groups show normal distribution and Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U test was used when the groups didn't show normal distribution with p<0.05 significance level. The resalts of this study showed that both physical education teaching graduates and school teachers didn't show significant differences in their attitudes according to their gender, teaching experience and whether they to have gym. in their school. There was a significant difference found in attitudes of both pysical education teaching graduates and school teachers according to their gender. When it was looked at the attitudes of phy. edu. teaching,it was fond that graduates according to their gender,there was not significant differences in their attitues. Also there was not significant differences in attitudes of pysical education teaching graduates whether do have gym in their school ar not. Both pysical education teaching graduates and school teachers didn't show any significant differences in their attitudes according to their teaching experience.
