Özet (EN)

The purpose of this retrospective study is to analyze of the dentofacial changings in the prepubetral skeletally Class III patients with maxillary retrognathy who received both lingual arch teratment applied to the mandible and orthopedic facemask treatment. Lateral cephalometric radiograph of the pubertal and prepubertal growth period patients who had the orthopedically treated with indication of Class III malocclusion due to maxillary retardation and all records have been taken based on Gaziantep Universty Fakulty of Dentistry Orthodontics Department, creates the material of our study. Angular and lineer measurements of 94 pre-treatment and posttreatment lateral cephalometric radiographs of RME-Facemask 16 (YM), RME-Facemask with lingual arch 16 (YM+LA), Control group15; totally 47 patients were performed. ANOVA and LSD tests were used to compare normally distributed variables in three groups, and Kruskal Wallis and Dunn tests were used to compare non-normally distributed variables in three groups. Paired t test was used to compare two normally distributed dependent measurements, and Wilcoxen test was used to compare two non-normally distributed dependent measurements. According to the findings, maxillomandibular relationships were improved in both applications. In YM+LA group; The failure of the mandibular incisors to be retruded due to the use of lingual arch causes the mandible to make more posterior rotation and thus increase the steep distance of the patients in order to correct the negative overjet. In patients with Class III malocclusion with non-severe maxillary retardation and mandibular prognathy and low angle, lingual arch use may be recommended in the treatment of facemask, as it will reduce dental camouflage in overjet correction.
