Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this reseach is to investigate the relation between the attitutes of prospective class teachers on music teaching, their perceptions of music teaching self-efficiencies and their musical abilities self-efficiencies. Furthermore, the sub-factors of attitutes towards music teaching and the perceptions on music teaching self efficiencies and their music ability self efficiencies are investigated related to the various variables such as gender, age, grade levels, their background, their family income, the academic degree of their fathers and the profession of their fathers. The research was carried out using individual survey model based on the quantitative approach. The universe of the research contains the students attending to class teaching department of Amasya University Education Faculty and the sample consists of 326 prospective class teachers. As a data collection tools, ''Attitute Scale towards Music Teaching'' developed by Şeker and Saygı (2013) was used to determine their attitute on music teaching, '' Music Teaching Self-Efficiency Scale'' developed by Afacan (2008) to find out the their music teaching self efficiency levels and '' Self- Efficiency Scale on Music Ability'' developed by Özmenteş and Özmenteş (2008a) to see their music ability self efficiencies. The obtained data was analysed by using SPSS 18,0 programme, descriptive statistical methods, t test, One Way ANOVA. At the end of the research, there was found no difference between the importance given to the music regarding to the sub factors of the attitutes of prospective teachers towards music teaching and gender, age, their background, family income level, the profession of the father variables whereas there is a meaningful difference related to the the grade level they are attending and the education level of the father. There is no difference between the sub-factors of thoughts towards music course and gender, age, their background, family income level, education level of the father and the profession of the father; but there is a meaningful difference related to the grade level they are attending. There was found no meaningful difference between sub- factor about doing academic studies towards music teaching and gender, grade level they are attending, family income level, education level of the father and profession of the father; however, there is a meaningful difference related to the age variable. There is no meaningful difference between confidence towards music knowledge, confidence on using music in class activities and the desire of using musical ability and knowledge which are the sub factors of music teaching self efficieny perceptions and gender, age, the grade they are attending, their background, family income level, the education level of the father and the profession of the father. There is not meaningful difference between the sub factor of converting the theorical music knowledge into life ability and gender, age, their background, family income level, the education level of the father and the profession of the father whereas there is a meningful difference on the grade level they are attending. There is no meaningful difference between music ability self efficiency perceptions and their background, family income level, education level of the father and the profession of the father but there is a meaningful difference related to the gender, age, the grade they are attending variables. There is a mean level relation between attitute points towards music teaching and the music teaching self efficiency perception points. Moreover, a mean level relation was found between music teaching self efficiency perception points and music ability self efficiency perception points. Related to the results, it is neccessary to explain the importance of the music to the students, to make the parents aware about the issue and to make deeper investigations to find out the meaningful differences using quantitative research method.
