The relationship between primary school teachers' commitment to the teaching profession and their perceptions of loneness at work

The purpose of this study was to ascertain the association between primary school teachers' opinions of their dedication to the teaching profession and their feelings of workplace loneliness. The study made use of the relational research model. The study's target population is the 550 primary school teachers who will be employed in Bolu's central district's official primary schools for the 2021–2022 academic year. Participants in the study included 241 primary school teachers from various primary schools. Data collecting instruments included the "Loneliness in Business Life Scale," a personal information form, and the "Teaching Profession Engagement Scale." The SPSS 20.0 package software was used to analyze the study results. When analyzing the data, descriptive statistics including mean, percentage, standard deviation, frequency, t tests, ANOVA and correlation were employed, and Cronbach Alpha coefficients were generated for the scales' reliability analysis. The research's findings showed that teachers' impressions of their devotion to the teaching profession were rated as "High", but they believed that they were not alone at work, rating their perceptions as "Low". It was determined after looking at the professional dedication of classroom teachers in terms of several characteristics that there was no difference based on gender, age, professional seniority, or marital status. There was a difference in favor of female teachers in terms of the gender variable and in favor of the 20–30 age group in terms of the age variable in the "professional effort" sub-dimension of the scale of commitment to the teaching profession. It was determined that seniority and gender did not affect the primary school teachers' views of loneliness in the workplace. When the perceptions of loneliness at work were compared to marital status, it was shown that married primary school teachers had greater levels of loneliness. Teachers over the age of 51 scored higher on the "Emotional deprivation" sub-dimension of the loneliness in business life scale. It was shown that there is a negative and only mildly significant correlation between primary school teachers' evaluations of their dedication to the teaching profession and their feelings of loneliness at work.
