Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, it was aimed to determine the toxic effect of sublethal concentration of sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) on head kidney of Poecilia reticulate, which is widely used in various researches as a model organism. An acute toxicity experiment was performed on adult specimens exposed to four concentrations (3 mg/L, 6 mg/L, 9 mg/L, 12 mg/L) of the water soluble of SLS for 96 hours. The head kidney of control and exposed fishes were dissected, investigated histologically and analyzed comparatively. The localization of head kidney of P. reticulata was determined and this determination was based on especially its endocrin functions and histological structure. Cell lineages of haemopoietic tissue of the head kidney were also determined. SLS was given rise to expanding of the Bowman space and glomerular diameters; and the lesions were described in the tubular epithelium as atrophy and hypertrophy, nuclear deformations, vacuolizations and infiltrations. All of the histopathological changes were concentration dependent. SLS was also caused the formation of granulomas, hemorrhage and necrosis in haemopoietic tissue. Statistical analyses showed that, hypertropic interrenal and chromaffin cells could be used as bioindicators of environmental stress. It is expected that these research would be provide new aspect hazardous effects of surfactants on different physiological processes on teleosts.
