Abstract (EN)

Caucasus has been under the influence of big powers for centuries for its natural recourses and geopolitical position. Especially Russia has become one of the most active states in Kaukasus region. As Azerbaijan is the most critical country of Caucasus, Russian foreign policy has been generally shaped via Azerbaijan. The research problem of this study considers making clear the efforts of Russia, being the successor of Soviet Union, to become re-active in Caucasus region and the policy of Azerbaijan towards this attitude. In this respect the objectives of this study can be expressed as:a)Which factors and powers, conflicting globally or regionally in the region, are the Communities in Caucasus region, especially Azerbaijan, under the influence after Cold War?b)What are the domestic and foreign policy of Russian Federation for Caucasus and Azerbaijan after Cold War?A widely literature review has been made while looking for the answers of these questions. During the review, current sources have been used. Perpetually developing events have brought about the changes at the existing policy.Within this framework, the result of the study indicates that Azerbaijan is being taken consideration, although Russia is active, Russia and other actors have been in conflicts in Caucasus region for years. Russia and other powers compete cruelly in order to have more voice in the world market through energy resources owned by Azerbaijan. With its ?Near Abroad Policy? Russia aims to reach the influence area of Soviet Union again. In this respect, it is seen that also other states have defined their policy towards this policy of Russia and it can be said that Azerbaijan?s own policy is considerably important under this snare.
