Kamûs-ı Türkî, Lugat-ı Nâcî, Müntahabât-ı Lugât-ı Osmâniyye and Lehce-i Osmânî dictionaries written during this period were scanned, the existence of words obtained in terms of structure (simple, derived, compound) and according to their subjects (special names created with color names, plant names, animal names, etc.) was studied in two basic classifications. In the introduction part, the existence of words and the concept of a dictionary are explained and general information about scanned dictionaries was given. At the same time, the concept of color which is the main subject of the study, the effects of colors on people, the place and importance of colors in Turkish culture were explained. Finally, a few of the studies on color names are summarized. In the first part, color names are examined in three headings in terms of structure: simple, derived and compound words. According to the data obtained, it was determined that the largest number of color names in the compound word structure are color names established in the form of adjective clause. In the second part, color names are classified in terms of meaning. Special names created with color names, plant names, animal names, stone and mine names, nature elements, food names, illness names, explosive substance names, cosmetic products and metaphorical meanings were examined. In the conclusion part, a general assessment about the existence of words for color names obtained from dictionaries was made. Similarities and differences in the existence of words for color names between dictionaries have been revealed. In Turkish, word derivation, nature transfer, metaphor and analogy through the naming of colors has led to the formation of a very wide word existence. It is believed that this study may be the source of other studies in terms of the existence of words related to color names.
