Abstract (EN)

In this research, the effect of social skill education on success level of social skill and psychological well-being of the psychological counselor candidates is examined. The research is an experimental and 2x3 split plot design is used. Work group of the research consists of 2 student groups with 14 experimental group and 14 control group, in total 28 students which continue their undergraduate education on Psychological Counseling and Guidance in Faculty of Education of Mustafa Kemal University, in 2015-2016 academic year. Experimental group consists of 10 girls, 4 boys in total 14 students, but control group consists of 9 girls, 5 boys in total 14 students. Social skill education program is prepared with considering the learning models of social cognitive, humanistic approach, behavioral approach, and cognitive approach which are developed to increase success levels of social skill and psychological well-being of psychological counselor candidates, and is applied in experimental group. Not any experimental process is applied in control group. Social skill education program is performed with sessions continuing about 90 minutes once a week. Sessions are performed during eleven weeks. Also, sessions are recorded with a camera. In this research, data are obtained by using quantitative and qualitative methods. Quantitative data of the research are obtained by using Social Skill Inventory which is adaptation to Turkish by Yüksel (1997), and Success Scales of Psychological Well-being which is adaptation to Turkish by Cenkseven (2004). Qualitative data of the research are obtained by using End of Session Assessment Form and General Assessment Form which is developed by a researcher. In analysis of quantitative data, t test, two-way analysis of variance for mixed measures, one-way analysis of variance for repeated measures and Bonferroni test are used. In analysis of qualitative data, content analysis method is used. When findings obtained from this research are examined, significantly increasing is observed on the success level of social skill and psychological well-being in the end of implementation and post-implementation. Continuation of the effect which is found in post-implementation is determined when there is no differentiation in measurement analysis of the success level of social skill and psychological well-being in post-implementation. When the qualitative findings are examined, developments are observed in the events of sustainability of relation in experimental group, group working, emotion oriented skill, making a plan and solving a problem, handling with stressful situations, handling with aggressive behavior. As a result, it can be said that social skill education program has positive influence on developing social skills and getting psychological well-being of psychological counselor candidates.
