Social studies the texbook Ottoman history teaching unit in terms of gains evaluation (According to the 2019-2020 year book example)

In this research, we analyzed how the unit named "Journey in Turkish History" in the Social Studies Textbook was taught in Ottoman History, while doing this, we analyzed the texts, reading passages and question sentences in the textbook. In addition to these, we also subjected visuals such as pictures, photographs, miniatures, engravings, and date strips to content and text analysis. When our research topic was Ottoman History teaching, we gave the definition of history in the introduction. History Teaching in Turkey is given when students start primary education. Different sources are used in history teaching. One of the main resources that helps teachers and students is textbooks. In the preparation of the curriculum and content in the textbooks, besides the cognitive and mental development of the student, the teaching factors based on educational sciences should also be taken into account. Social studies textbooks were evaluated in terms of Ottoman history teaching. While examining the sections on Ottoman history, the textbooks used between 2019/2020 were taken into account. Our research includes the following: Academic resources related to educational sciences, academic resources related to history teaching and studies and articles in this field were examined. The matters determined by the Board of Education and Discipline were also taken into account. Depending on all these studies, the suitability of Social Studies textbooks in terms of history teaching at the 7th grade has been discussed.
