For the first time in their lives, pupils are faced with certain concepts after primary education begins. Some difficulties are encountered for the first time in understanding these concepts, these concepts are deducted to be confused or mistaken about the concept. The purpose of this research is to determine the aim of the course is to determine the misconceptions of the "Turks on Silk" unit and to identify the teachers' awareness of these misconceptions. In the theoretical part of this thesis, the concept of social information, social studies lesson and historical development, concept definition, misconception are given. literature study was conducted in conjunction with theoretical work on the subject of the study. As a result of the validity and reliability analyzes, the success test composed of the final 16 questions was applied at the end of the unit and the achievement of the unit targets was evaluated according to these test results. However, the opinions of the teachers about the misconceptions of students applying to the questionnaire consisted of 15 questions were teachers. The data in the study 375 social studies in six middle schools in the province of Diyarbakır, central Kayapınar, differing in terms of socioeconomic levels in the province of Diyarbakır during the academic year 2017-2018 were obtained as a result of the study carried out with the teacher in the 6th grade student and 58 social studies in the province. The data gathered in the research were examined and all statistical analyzes were made using SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) 22.0 program. After the data analysis and the statistical analysis, the following results were obtained: The misconceptions of students' achievement scores do not differ significantly from the gender variable and attitude toward social studies course. The misconceptions according to mother's education level and father's education status, mother's occupation and father's occupation showed significant difference in success scores.Misconceptions achievement scores of students between courses and medium grade, there was a significant positive correlation. As a result of the questionnaire applied to the teachers, it has been determined that the teachers are not sufficiently aware of the misconceptions of the students.
