The effects of teaching life on earth unit climate and human relationship i̇ssues with in terms of some variables material assisted i̇nstruction on the academic achievement social studies course

This subject is carried out with the purpose to research the effects of material supported teaching of the subject social studies, life on earth unit, and the relation between climate and human beings topics on students' academic success in their learning experience from the perspective of some variables. The research that has been conducted on the 6th grade students in two different classes in a secondary school located in the centre county of Burdur in the 2017-2018 education semester of fall, which has been completed with the titles; conclusion, suggestions is a study that delivers new findings in this area. In this research, pre-test post-test control grouped quasi-experimental design was used and one class was determined as an experimental group while the other one was determined as a control group. Life on earth unit, the relation between climate and human beings topics was performed to the students in control group by direct instruction technique and question-and-answer teaching method. It was performed to the students in experimental group by show (demonstration), educational game and station methods and techniques. In total, 4 periods of time was spared for application for both classes. In the research, applications on experimental and control groups were performed personally by the researcher. A 20 articled achievement test that was developed by the researcher was used as a data collection tool. Obtained data was analysed by taking advantage of SPSS 22.0 programme. In this research, significance level of the results was accepted 0, 05 and analysed by arithmetic mean, standard deviation, paired student t-test, unpaired t-test, percentage frequency and one way analysis of variance (ANOVA) statistics techniques. According to the results, it was reached to fruition that life on earth unit, the relation between climate and human beings subjects significantly affect students' academic success on their learning experience with material supported education. It was deduced that it doesn't make a difference significantly according to gender, parents' education status and on the other hand it makes a significant difference on behalf of the experimental group if the groups' recent test scores are considered.
