Examination of social studies teacher candidates' views on environmental awareness sensitivity in terms of various variables

The purpose of this research; The aim of this study is to determine whether the environmental awareness sensitivities of social studies teacher candidates studying at Fırat University, Faculty of Education, Department of Turkish and Social Sciences Education, Department of Social Studies Education differ in terms of various variables. In this study, a survey model was used to determine the environmental awareness and sensitivity levels of social studies teacher candidates and to examine them in terms of various variables. The study group of the research consists of 156 social studies teacher candidates who are continuing their education in the Department of Social Studies Education at Fırat University in the spring semester of 2020-2021 academic year. In order to determine the environmental sensitivity of social studies teacher candidates in the research, the environmental sensitivity scale of university students developed by Akbaş and Kırmızılı was used. SPSS 22.0 (Statistical Packet for Social Science for Windows) package program was used in the analysis of the data. As a result of the research; It was concluded that social studies teacher candidates have high environmental awareness sensitivity. In addition, in the dimension of Expressions Regarding Environmental Behaviors and Expressions Regarding Environmental Awareness, 4th grade teacher candidates have a higher level of environmental awareness than 1st grade teacher candidates, mother and father education It has been concluded that the high level of environmental awareness is an important factor in increasing environmental awareness and also getting preschool education is an important factor in increasing environmental awareness.
