Abstract (EN)
The aim of this research is to determine the perceptions of social science teachers and secondary school 6th grade students about the value of scientificity, and the views of social science teachers about the value of scientificity. In the research, qualitative research approach was preferred, and case studies, which is one of the descriptive methods, were used as a design. The study group of the research consists of 68 social studies teachers working in secondary schools in the provinces and districts of Rize in the 2019-2020 academic year, and 438 6th grade students studying in the provinces and districts of Rize. The research was carried out in 14 schools in the city center and 22 schools in the 9 districts reached. Random sampling from the probability-based sampling method was used in the selection of the sample. In this study, different data collection tools were used for two different study groups. Data collection tools used for teachers, personal information form, metaphor creation form and semi-structured interview form. Data collection tools used for students are personal information form, metaphor creation form, picture/caricature drawing form and composition writing form. In the analysis of the data, descriptive and content analysis methods were used. As a result of the research, the perceptions of social science teachers and secondary school students about the value of scientificity, and the views of social science teachers about the value of scientificity were determined. Finally, it can be suggested that teachers should receive in-service training on the value of scientificity, that courses related to the value of scientificity should be included in the social science undergraduate program of the faculty of education, and that a seminar should be given to parents on this subject.
