Evaluation of teachers? views about the objectives related to values in the studies curriculum

This research has been done to evaluate teachers? views about the acquisitions related to values in the social studies awriculum. The research is a descriptive study and using survey model it aims to find out primary school teachers? views about the level of acquisition of values in the class of social.The target population of the study includes teachers of social who work in the central district of Van Province in 2007-2008 educational year and teachers of 4th and 5th grades. Since the target population is immense sampling has been conducted. 290 teachers have contributed to the study.In the study, Survey of Goal Evaluation in Social Sciences ( SGESS) which is developed by the researcher has been used. The data collected has been analysed through SPSS pack program. The personel information about the teachers and the findings for their views about to what extents the acquisitions related to values exist in the program and to what extents they must exist have been calculated with frequencies and percentages. In order to find out if there is a significant difference between teachers views about to what extents the acquisitions related to values exist in the program and to what extents they must exist and also in order to find out if there is difference in terms of gender analysis of t-test between independent teams has been done. In order to determine if there is a meningful difference in terms of branch and gender one way anova test has been conducted.When the findings are evaluated at the end of the research it is seen that there is not a meaningful difference in terms of variables of gender and branch. It is seen that most of the teachers think that acquisitions related to values in the present programme are insufficient and they must be featured in the new programme. Considering seniority of teachers it is obvious that there is not a significant difference between teachers? views about the acquisitions related to values in the present situation. However, teachers? views about the desired situation in which the acquisitions related values must be has changed according to their seniority in their profession.Keyword:
