Abstract (EN)
This research is a model search, which is done for the aim of defining the views ofSocial Science and Turkish teachers of ?Special Days and Weeks? in 6th and 7th grades ofprimary education.The study area of the search is the Social Science and Turkish lessons teachers whohave been working in the primary schools of Seyhan and Yüreğir towns of Adana city. 218teachers who have been chosen by random example testing from 61 government schools and10 private schools have done the of the research.In this study , the questionnaire which was developed according to the aims of SpecialDays and Weeks has been used as a data counter by the researcher. The questionnaire hadbeen put into practice, corrected and reapplied to the chosen teachers. It consists of 7 parts. Inthe first part, there are 5 questions for the teachers? personal information, in the second part.There are 11 questions about the aims of Special Days and Weeks, in the third part, there are9 questions about the contents of SPW*** , in the fourth part, there are 14 questions about theeducational procers of SDW, in the fifth part, there are 2 questions about the activities that areheld during SDW, in the sixth part, there are 10 questions of evalvating SPW and in theseventh part there are 6 questions of suggestions for SPW. There are 57 questions totally.Frequency and % techniques have been used while interpreting the data.The results are summarized according to the findings of the search below:1. It?s seen that teachers have mentioned that SPW don?t help students to learn thelesson lively2. Teachers have mentioned that our national days and weeks like 23 April-Children?sDay, the opening of TBMM, 19 May- Day of the Turkish Youth, help the studentsto understand the importance of our traditions in social life.3. Teachers have mentioned that, special days like the Turkish Republic Day, the Dayof victory, The Independence Day of cities in Turkey, help the build up nationalfeelings in children?s minds.4. Teachers have mentioned that, special days like the world children?s Day, UN day,Human Rights Week, day of NATO, help the children get conscious about humanrights and peac.5. Teachers have mentioned that special days like Heroism Days, RememberingImportant Turkish people give the students information about Turkish History andhelp them to understand the valves of Turkısh Natıon.6. Teacher have mentioned that special days and weeks like the world?s children?sDay, UN Day, the week of Human Rights, day of NATO, the European Day donthelp the students to understand our responsibilities in international relationshis andagreements.7. Teachers have mentioned that the Library Week don?t help the students tounderstand the importance of libraries in our educational system.8. Teachers have mentioned that the Thrift, investment and Turkish Goods week,World Society week, Energy Saving week, don?t help children to relate theNational Economy and being thrifty with themselves and understand theimportance of them.9. Teachers have mentioned that days and weeks like Remembering the importantTurkish People, Mothers Day, World?s Children Day, Kızılay week, Yeşilay weekdon?t help the children to respect younger or older people.10. Teachers have mentioned that the Traffic week, Greenpeace week, Library week,Museums week, don?t help the children to develop the habit of obeying the trafficrules, and the rules of libraries of museums.11. Teachers have mentioned that Animals Day, Forests Da yor the week of DisabledPeople don?t help the students feel like helping disabled people or taking care ofanimals or forests.12. Teachers have mentioned that the SPW that are mentioned in Primary SchoolsSchedule includes activities of school and student relationships.13. Teachers have mentioned that SDW are highly related to social science and TurkishLessons contents.14. Teachers have mentioned that SDW includes activites that make children active inthe lessons process.15. Teachers have mentioned that SDW require to use written materials.16. Teachers have mentioned that SDW help the students to improve their developmentof social activities.17. Teachers have mentioned that the aims of SDW are similar with the aims of socialscience and Turkish lessons.18. Teachers have mentioned that the aims of SDW activites are not held effectivelyenough in social science and Turkish lessons.19. Teachers have mentioned that the activites to be held during the SDW are definedby the school administration and applied by the teachers.20. It has been seen that the teachers pointed out BGH at meetings.21. It has been seen that the teachers put BGH in the yearly plan.22. the teachers stated that when they wanted to do an activity related to Secial Daysand Weeks in Turkish and Social sciences lessons,this activity had been stated inthe yearly plan.23. It has been seen that the teachers stated they coordinated with othercourses?teachers while they were doing yearly plan in Turkish and Social Sciencecourses for the activites and subjects designed sor SDW.24. It has been seen that the teachers did not use SDW during Turkish and SocialSiciences lessons.25. While the teachers were using BGH, they noticed that schools weren?t sufficient inthe written resources and means.26. It has been seen that the school administration didn?t give enough guidance to theteachers27. The teachers declared that there was no school-parents coordination in the activitiesdone in BGH.28. During their education, the teachers had no courses about how they could use BGHin Turkish and Social Sciences lessons.29. the teacher declared that they needed courses and seminars related to BGH.30. The teachers said that BGH helped them to understand the students in manydifferent aspects.31. The teachers stated that the phsical enviroment (ritten resources,tools,room,classroom, salon, etc.) in schools.32. The teachers stated that while they were evoluating students? term and end of yearremarks they considered their studies in SDW.33. The teachers stated that they found that week?s unit plan and decided which sciencefield it was about and then got information about the importance of the week.34. The teachers stated that they considered that the students who participated in SDWcelebrations should be talented.35. The teachers stated that the end of year evaluation of SDW were done by theprimary school inspectors.36. The teachers stated that they considered the activities the students had done atSDW during year while they were giving end of year remarks.37. It has been seen that the teachers suggested they should have given one hour for thecelebrations at SDW with in the weekly lesson plans.38. The teachers stated that school administration, teachers and the interest, help andguidance of parents would increase the output at SDW.39. The teachers stated that to place a room for the activities done at SDW wouldincrease the interest of teachers.40. The teachers stated that Martyr Teachers Week was the most importannt week tobe put in SDW.41. The teachers stated that NATO day is the most important day to be deleted.42.
