Abstract (EN)
Under favour of the pleasure from contributing to development of society and obtained spritual satisfaction, volunteering can become a part of life. Voluntary participation to works provide throwing shyness off for individuals and increase their social courage, and these gains increase individuals' voluntary levels for psychological support receivment. This study's aim was to reveal the relationship between the levels of happiness and willingness to receive psychological support for university students who worked voluntarily in social benefit foundations. Besides, the effects of variables such as students' sex, age, foundations that they have been volunteered, on levels of happiness and willingness to receive psychological support had been examined. 100 students who worked voluntarily in social benefit foundations in Istanbul had participated in the research. In order to identify demographic characteristics of students, Personal Information Form, and to evaluate variables, Willingness to Receive Psychological Support Scale and Oxford Happiness Scale were applied by the researcher. Mann Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis H and Spearman Correlation Tests were used in the analysis of data. When the socio-demographic characteristics were analyzed, it was found out that women had higher scores on happiness scale than men, and as university students' age increased, their scores on willingness to receive psychological support scale also increased. There were no significant results for socio-demographic features that took part in the research, such as students' grades or their job status. Suggestions were made in the discussion section for investigators, consulting psychologists in the field and families in the light of the study results.
