Abstract (EN)
In this study, the effects of social capital and organizational cynicism, and whether these veriables differ based on demographic characteristics, were examined with the participation of white-collar employees. Initially, the literature on organizational cynicism and social capital was reviewed. Subsequently, an evaluation was made within the context of organizational theories to substantiate the presumed relationship between organizational cynicism and social capital. Finally, data analyses were conducted for both veriables, and the results were discussed, leading to recommendations. Data were collected through a survey method from white-collar workers operating in central districts of Izmir, reaching a total of 404 participants using convenience and snowball sampling methods. In the research, the 13-item ''Organizational Cynicism Scale'' developed by Brandes vd. (1999) and adapted into Turkish by Kalağan (2009), and the 28-item ''Social Capital Scale'' prepared by Yavuz (2012) based on the ''World Values Survey'' database were utilized. The Organizational Cynicism Scale consists of three dimensions: cognitive, affective, and behavioral. The Social Capital Scale comprises three dimensions: trust, norms, and social networks. It is noteworthy that there is no existing study in both domestic and international literature that examines the relationship between organizational cynicism and social capital. Therefore, the aim of this research is to contribute to the literature in this aspect.
