Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of social assistance on the voting behavior of housewives residing in Adana. Content analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the research. The population of the research consists of urban housewives who benefit from social assistance and who do not. The working group consisted of 15 women residing in Adana province, Seyhan, Çukurova, Yüreğir and Sarıçam districts, benefiting from social assistance, and 15 women not benefiting from social assistance. Semi-structured interview form and in-depth interview technique were used to collect the data. As a result of the research, the data obtained from the question "What is the effect of social assistance on your voting behavior?" directed to the participants were evaluated separately for the participants who benefited from social assistance and those who did not. As a result of the interviews with 30 urban housewives, it was seen that social assistance alone did not have a significant effect on changing the voting behavior of the participants, depending on their negative experiences with the scope, purpose, adequacy, implementation and justice of the existing social assistance system.
