The psychological conditions in processing abstract art

The human who seeks meaning to make sense of living to exceed the limited self, to ease the hardship of life, to shape his future with own feelings and thoughts creates art as a play with essence within. Making art is an inspiring state and is one of the most effective ways of protecting the intrinsic integrity of the human hence the man can not give up making art. Centuries old pictorial art has had a transformation in terms of form and content as a result of changing time and circumstances. The art of the 20th century is the period that leads the path courageously to the individuality, to thoughts and feelings. The anti materialistic and anti naturalist approach of existence which are effective on scientific and philosophical thinking in the 19th century has also had an impact on art. Searching for the truth of art and life the 20th century modernism has hosted innovative art movements by assisting experimental art, and the collective context of these movements have been abstract art. The artist seeks to reach a point of tranquality through an abstract approach, by relieving the object from its apparent randomness and getting into the heart of the object beyond sight. This thesis attempts to understand the absract art and abstract artists consists of three parts. In the first part of the study the abstract art is defined and the historical process of the abstract painting is revealed. In the second part it investigates the needs of the courageous creative painter and the psychological reasons underlying the requirements pushing the painters to the creation process. Finally in the third part the emphasis is on finding out the concept of creativity and the creative person, investigating the factors that affect creativity. In order to do that the thesis looks at the researches conducted by neurologists, looking at possible connections between human brain and the creativity and the effects of the psychological diseases on creativity are also studied. In this thesis, the matter of art protecting the intrinsic integrity as well as the need of the artist to make art, are considered in a holistic view point looking at the artistic, scientific and philosophical studies on the topic. The intrinsic necessities leading the artist to make abstract art are interpreted. Key words: Abstract painting, Artist, Modernism, Science, Philosophy.
