Abstract (EN)
In this study, the effect of using songs as a teaching material in the teaching of the Turkish lesson on the subject of figures of speech on the success of the students and the permanence of their success was investigated, the subject of figures of speech was associated with the listening skill, unlike the curriculum, and discussed with an interdisciplinary approach. The study, whose sample consisted of 10 seventh grade students studying in a secondary school in Antalya province, Manavgat district; is a mixed method research designed in an exploratory sequential design. In the quantitative dimension of the research, a single-group pretest-posttest design was applied, and the data were collected via the figures of speech achievement test developed by the researcher. 33-question achievement test; used as pretest, posttest and retention test. In the quanlitative dimension, situation analysis was made and interviews were made with the students in the study group via the semi-structured interview form developed by the researcher. SPSS v22 program was used in the analysis of quantitative data, non-parametric tests such as Wilcoxon sequential signs and Mann-Whitney U tests were used; content analysis was performed for quanlitative data. According to the results of the research, it has been determined that the teaching of figures of speech with songs has a positive effect on the success of the students and the permanence of their success. Success and permanence do not vary significantly by gender. Most of the students want to learn Turkish lessons and numerical lessons with songs; finds the lessons taught with songs nice, instructive, entertaining and memorable. Ambiguity was the primary subject that students wanted to learn through songs. Students think that they understand simile the easiest, and that they have the most difficulty in personification.
