Preoperative anxiety has been reported in about 60-80% of the patients who will undergo surgery. Anxiety causes widespread sympathetic activation. We provide a rational basis for the hypothesis that more severe hypotension will occur after induction of spinal anesthesia in pregnancies with higher preoperative anxiety levels. Our study was carried out as a questionnaire study evaluating preoperative anxiety levels of cesarean section with spinal anesthesia and the effect of these anxiety levels on intraoperative maternal hemodynamics, postoperative maternal compilation and post cesarean section mother satisfaction. Patients' anxiety was assessed one hour before the operation during a visit to the A block operating room patient preparation unit. STAI-1, STAI-2, and Verbal Analoque scale (VAS) anxiety scales were used to assess anxiety. Anxiety state; low, medium and high anxiety levels according to the scores obtained were evaluated in 3 categories. Following the routine monitoring of the pregnancies taken into the operation room, 18 gauge and 2 iv catheters were placed. All patients received 500 mL colloid and 1000 mL crystalloid infusion simultaneously with spinal anesthesia. Bupivacaine required for spinal anesthesia was injected into the subarachnoid space at doses determined according to the study of Harten JM et al. Although there was no significant change in intraoperative hemodynamic parameters according to preoperative STAI anxiety scale, preoperative anxiety according to VAS was evaluated; a significant decrease in intra operative 30th MAP and a significant increase in the number of patients requiring vasopressor were found in the case of high anxiety. In conclusion, we conclude that preoperative anxiety requires more number of cases and more standardized patient groups and protocols to investigate the effect of intraoperative hypotension on cesarean section with spinal anesthesia
