Investigation of the relationship between kinesiophobia and mobility levels and influencing factors in patients undergoing spinal instrumentation

Abstract (EN)
Objective: This study was conducted to determine the levels of kinesiophobia and mobility in patients undergoing spinal instrumentation, to reveal the relationship between kinesiophobia and mobility levels and to determine the influencing factors. Method: The research is a descriptive and relationship-seeking study. In the study, necessary permissions were obtained from the ethics committee, relevant institutions and participants. The study was conducted with 72 patients who underwent spinal instrumentation. Data were collected using Patient Identifier Form, Observer Identifier Form, Tampa Kinesiophobia Scale, Patient Mobility Scale and Observer Mobility Scale. Results: In the study, it was determined that the kinesiophobia levels and the levels of pain and strain in movement were high in the preoperative period1, the first postoperative day2, the discharge day3 and the first follow-up of the outpatient clinic4, and there was a moderate positive relationship between them (r1:0.583, r2:0.551, r3:0.391, r4:0.604, p≤0.001). The presence of activity limitation due to vertebral fracture for the preoperative period, having a diagnosis of vertebral fracture, the amount of drain in the range of 201-300 ml for the first postoperative day, the presence of postoperative problems were determined as the factors affecting the level of kinesiophobia and pain and strain during movement. Performing scoliosis surgery on the first postoperative day increased kinesiophobia levels; the number of screws applied was five or more as factors affecting the pain and strain levels in patient mobility (p<0.05). Conclusion: It was found that patients who underwent spinal instrumentation had a high level of kinesiophobia, high levels of pain and strain during mobility, and a statistically significant relationship between them. It was observed that the type of diagnosis, the amount of drain, the type of surgery and the number of screws were significant factors for kinesiophobia and mobility levels in patients who underwent spinal instrumentation.
