Abstract (EN)

Subarachnoid hemorrhage is a pathological condition in which blood is distributed to the subarachnoid space and is one of the most important causes of morbidity and mortality in the middle-aged and elderly age group. The brain is the organ with the highest adropin distribution in the body. Adropin in the brain has been shown to have a potential protective role against brain atrophy, cognitive functions, acute ischemic CVDs and some neurological diseases. Adropin reduces neurocognitive pathologies, oxidative stress and apoptotic cell death by increasing nitrite oxide synthase release. Adropin has a direct effect on the function of endothelial cells. It has been shown that adropin has protective effects on the blood-brain barrier, on brain endothelial cells in rats exposed to ischemia, and on mice with intracerebral hemorrhage. We examined adropin levels in the serum portion of blood taken from 55 patients and 30 healthy individuals using the ELISA method. In this study, we investigated how spontaneous subarachnoid hemorrhage changes serum adropin levels. As a result of our study, we saw that adropin titer increased in the serum after spontaneous subarachnoid hemorrhage. However, we could not find a significant difference when compared to the control group.
