Abstract (EN)
Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Sports Sciences aimed to analyze the digital literacy levels of students in a comprehensive manner and a study was conducted in this direction. Digital literacy refers to the ability of individuals to use digital technologies effectively, consciously and ethically, and has become a basic necessity in every aspect of individuals' lives in the rapidly developing conditions of the digital age. In the study, the digital literacy levels of students were examined in the context of demographic variables such as age, gender, department of education, class level, frequency of internet use and purpose of internet use. The research was designed and implemented with a quantitative method. In the data collection process, a scale with proven validity and reliability was used to measure digital literacy levels. This scale covered various dimensions of digital literacy such as information management, digital content production, digital security, technical skills and ethics. The participants consisted of students studying at the Faculty of Sports Sciences and having different demographic characteristics. In addition, survey forms were applied during the data collection process and these data were analyzed with statistical methods and the factors affecting digital literacy levels were examined in detail. The findings of the study revealed that digital literacy levels show significant differences depending on demographic variables. In particular, the frequency and purpose of internet use have a decisive effect on digital skills. It has been observed that individuals with high levels of digital literacy adapt more effectively to the requirements of the digital age, as well as their academic performance. The study also emphasizes that digital literacy plays a critical role in terms of individual development and social development. As a result, this thesis has revealed that digital literacy is not only an individual skill, but also a strategic tool that supports social development. The findings clearly show that educational programs for digital skills in higher education should be prioritized.
