Evaluation of the websites of sports federations

The widespread use of the internet has changed the functioning of many institutions, from government institutions to the private sector, and enabled these institutions to provide services online. The widespread use of the internet in daily life, especially during the Covid-19 process, has brought along the need for institutions to use websites and social media platforms to represent them in accordance with their purposes and functions. From this point of view, the purpose of this research is to evaluate the websites of 64 federations affiliated to the Ministry of Youth and Sports (GSB). Content analysis technique, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in this research. After the literature review, a "Web Site Checklist" (WSKL) which has 8 sub-dimensions of the checklist (1. Content, 2. Institutional Content, 3. Interaction and Feedback, 4. Functional, 5. Site Performance, 6. Security, 7. Foreign Language Use, 8. Social Media Usage) and 79 features, is formed by the researchers. The data were obtained between 01.03.2022 and 01.04.2022. All of the site performance sub-dimension and part of the security sub-dimension were controlled by online software. As a result of the research that measures how effectively sports federations use websites, sports federations need to improve many features they use on websites in order to keep their communication with their members at a better level. In conclusion, it has been determined that in a world where internet usage is increasing day by day, sports federations, which are a part of society, cannot fully internalize the importance of their websites. In this context, it can be said that the findings obtained from this study should be developed by the sports federations affiliated with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the managers and other personnel who determine the strategy in this regard should be seriously conscious of the benefits and use of the internet.
